Why I built Lawyer Reviews

A fairer legal system starts with informed people.

Most Australians choose a lawyer in a crisis: a separation, an accident, a charge, a death in the family. They search, read a handful of reviews of uncertain provenance, and pick on instinct. Healthcare has healthdirect. Consumer products have Choice. The legal market had nothing like it.

I built Lawyer Reviews Australia to be that research-led starting point: an independent index of admitted lawyers, rankings under a published methodology, reviews that are verified or clearly labelled, fees in plain English, and a match service that is free for the public. The aim is simple. People should be able to see what good looks like before they sign an engagement letter.

What I do on the platform

• Read every review submission before it is published
• Approve new lawyer profiles after verification
• Respond to reviews and right-of-reply requests
• Set the platform’s direction and priorities
• Keep the guides and cost explainers current
• Read every enquiry that comes through the site

What I have committed to

• No paid rankings. Editorial rankings cannot be bought. Sponsored placements are always labelled Sponsored and sit outside the rankings.
• A published methodology. The ranking weights, verification standards and dispute process are public at /methodology/.
• Disclosure. Every commercial relationship with a lawyer or firm is disclosed where they are mentioned. The editorial policy binds me the same way it binds the editorial team.
• Corrections in public. Every correction is logged, dated and shows what it said before, at /complaints/.
• Not a law firm. This site publishes general information and matches people with admitted lawyers. It does not give legal advice.

Jackson Agresta is a founder, chairman and entrepreneur with business interests spanning Australia and the United States. He is Chairman of AUDHD and SEEN, both not-for-profit and specialising in neurodiversity, and founder of Australian Glow and Oliver Group, with a portfolio across consumer brands, business advisory, digital health and online publishing.

His interests include Wellness Pty Ltd, Glow Brands / Afterglow Group, Undiagnosed, Lawyer Reviews, Pet Reviews, Dog Food Reviews and Wilsburg, together with associated brands and digital assets, including glow.com.au.
