No award has been issued to any person or firm. The inaugural list is published on 1 July 2027, from verified client reviews collected between 15 September 2026 and 31 May 2027. Every recipient shown anywhere on this site before then is a clearly marked sample record used to show how the programme will work.
What the awards recognise
Six categories, organised by practice area, by state or territory, and by year, with separate recognition for individual lawyers and for firms. Two open in the inaugural year; the rest open once independent professional assessment is in place, because client feedback measures the client’s experience and cannot measure the quality of an argument.

Recognition levels
The professional ranking categories use three levels, and more than one recipient may qualify at each level in a given area and state. Winner is reserved for the competitive categories, where a single recipient is selected.

Practice areas
Recognition is awarded within a practice area and a state or territory, never as a single national “best lawyer”.
Planned for later editions: Barristers, Mediators & Arbitrators, Building & Construction, Tax, Intellectual Property. Barristers and mediators are recognised separately from solicitors, because they are engaged differently and reviewed by different people.
How a recipient is selected
- Reviews are collected and verified. Clients review their lawyer on this site. Each review is matched to an engagement record — a redacted invoice, costs agreement or engagement letter — before it is published or counted.
- Nominations open the file. A nomination is not required to be recognised, and cannot buy recognition. It tells us to watch a practitioner’s file and, for the professional categories, is where evidence and references are supplied.
- Eligibility is tested against published thresholds. Minimum review counts, distinct clients, rating floors and a current practising certificate or firm registration. Thresholds are published before the window closes.
- Integrity checks run on every qualifying file. Duplicate and manipulated review detection, engagement-record matching, burst and clustering analysis, and exclusion of any review under an unresolved dispute.
- Results publish with the arithmetic. Each list ships with the dataset behind it, so any recipient — or anyone who missed out — can reproduce or contest the result.
- Badges are issued and verifiable. Every badge links to a public page naming the recipient, category, practice area, state and year. A badge that does not verify is not ours.
The four rules
- Free. No entry fee, no nomination fee, no fee to display a badge. A paid award is an advertisement wearing a medal.
- Unbuyable. No sponsored placement in any category, ever. Advertising, sponsorship and profile products never touch selection, and sponsors are named on the report. Trophies, framed certificates and printed material are optional purchases that follow recognition and can never produce it.
- Computed, not judged. Every client-based category is a formula over published data.
- Declinable. Any practitioner may decline recognition or ask to be removed, before or after publication, without giving a reason.
