Amy Toomey is a senior associate at Taussig Cherrie Fildes. She was admitted in 2019, having graduated in law with honours and in arts with a Chinese major, and joined the firm in 2021 after serving as deputy associate and then associate to judges of what was then the Federal Circuit Court.
She acts across family law, from property settlements to parenting arrangements, including matters for high-net-worth individuals, and represents clients in negotiation, mediation and litigation. Her firm describes her as combining technical precision with empathy and clarity, and calls her an integral member of the team.
Her writing has already been recognised by the profession: in 2022 the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia awarded her the Michael Taussig QC Family Law Essay Award, named for the firm's own late co-founder, and her essay was published in Australian Family Lawyer. The firm lists her among its Best Lawyers in Australia 2026 "Ones to Watch".

Taussig Cherrie Fildes is a specialist family law firm on Lonsdale Street in the Melbourne CBD, founded in 2000 by Debra Cherrie and the late Michael Taussig QC. In its 2026 edition Doyle’s Guide ranks the firm First Tier, its highest firm tier, in both its national list of family and divorce law firms (one of six firms) and its Melbourne list (one of five). It is the only firm in both first tiers that practises family law alone. Both named principals, Debra Cherrie and Paul Fildes, are ranked Preeminent in Melbourne.
