Immediately before joining the firm he worked at a renowned US-based law firm in London on international commercial litigation and arbitration, assisting clients in high-profile cross-border disputes involving shareholder conflicts and fraud.
That international commercial experience is a strong fit for family law matters with business and cross-border dimensions. He is admitted in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia.

Taussig Cherrie Fildes is a specialist family law firm on Lonsdale Street in the Melbourne CBD, founded in 2000 by Debra Cherrie and the late Michael Taussig QC. In its 2026 edition Doyle’s Guide ranks the firm First Tier, its highest firm tier, in both its national list of family and divorce law firms (one of six firms) and its Melbourne list (one of five). It is the only firm in both first tiers that practises family law alone. Both named principals, Debra Cherrie and Paul Fildes, are ranked Preeminent in Melbourne.
